@andybudd @mulegirl @alicenwondrlnd Amaro Nonino seems like one of my best discoveries of the past couple years. There’s also a Rosemary & Lime cocktail with it (ketel one, amaro, rosemary, angostura, lime juice) that is fantastic.

@mathowie Whether in CA, east coast, Midwest, or in the southeastern US, I’ve only ever heard two kinds of cold tea: Iced Tea (sometimes referred to as unsweet) or Sweet Tea (very sweet, IMO). If you order an “Iced Tea” and it comes pre-sweetened, they’re doing it wrong.

@stop @Yarcom @gwb @bhaggs Oh, and we use a universal remote so we don’t need to use multiple remotes. The Marantz, TV, cable, and Apple all have their own remotes. But a single universal controls the Marantz, TV, AppleTV, and switches to Sonos (which still requires using the Sonos controller or Airplay.)

@Yarcom @gwb @bhaggs The receiver is probably the magic piece that ties everything together (in our 2 rooms with a TV) since it can take multiple inputs and direct them to any outputs.

@Yarcom @gwb @bhaggs So, I could be wrong, but I think Sonos can only switch between digital sources (Apple Music, Spotify, Audible, etc. A linked computer music library is the exception.) But switching between physical sources (cable box, AppleTV) required a receiver.

@bhaggs @Yarcom @gwb Didn’t even know about Spotify kids, so we haven’t tried it. We just have a family acct shared 4 ways. I did recently find the explicit music setting, which I’ve been asking for, so that helps a tiny bit.

@stop @Yarcom @gwb @bhaggs If I remember right, the Marantz piece was necessary primarily: 1) for physical source input selection 2) to power more than 4 speakers. I think Amps, at least the older ones, have a limit on wattage support.

@Yarcom @gwb @bhaggs Advantage of the way we have our two TVs configured (each with their own Amp, in-ceilings, Marantz, and bookshelf speakers is that they can play great theater sound for either TV, or they can participate in whole-house audio…

@stop @Yarcom @gwb @bhaggs Advantage of Sonos S2 + iOS 14/15 is once zones are configured, they become Airplay zones too, so anything can play to them, not just the Sonos controller.

@stop @Yarcom @gwb @bhaggs Our girls know their way around Spotify pretty well. And Sonos too if it’s just finding music and playing it. Don’t think they’ve figured out how to split or join zones yet. But Sonos makes that pretty simple.

@stop @Yarcom @gwb @bhaggs so the bookshelf speakers and sub under the TV can also pump sound from the Sonos Amp. We use a Logitech universal remote to switch the Marantz under the TV from cable to AppleTV to Sonos, and TV only turns on if input = cable or AppleTV.

@Yarcom @gwb @bhaggs Our girls have iPods with Sonos installed. We control when they have their iPods. Yes, a tech guy did the install. No hubs – Marantz receivers just control sound from cable box and Apple TV, but they also take input from a Sonos Amp…

@gwb @Yarcom @bhaggs We have 10 Amps around the house with in-ceilings, and two zones (with TVs) combine with Marantz receivers plus additional speakers. So it’s possible to use both at once. Our Amps are all older. But somehow, the upgrade went smoothly, and we’ve had no connection issues with S2.
