@TimHaines Just noting that if I sign out of twitter.com, and sign back in as @stop, I always need to reauth from Favstar. Is that normal?
-
@TimHaines No auth screen – just sign out, and sign back in. But I don’t think I ever need to re-auth any other Twitter apps when I do that.
-
@TimHaines First – I’m only using favstar with one Twitter account. I’ve never checked it for another. Second…
-
@courtneybolton You can easily follow more than 2,000 accounts. There’s no limit there that I know of, except on a daily basis.
-
@TimHaines I’ve actually wondered why I constantly need to re-auth Favstar.fm? Is it just me, or a quirk of the system of I log out of T?
-
@StuRobson @paul_irish The other account is active, so unless he’s violating TOS, I don’t think there’s anything Twitter can do.
-
@GrahamJenkin Git is our current solution. And yes, have Tower. Also GitHub’s app. But git is getting slower and slower for us.
-
@kaler Hmm, I remember Perforce from many moons ago. Back when I was still on Windows. Not good memories…
-
@LayerVault Ok, hers’s one – can LayerVault be installed on our own server, rather than syncing with lv.com?
-
@levifig @danielmall Yeah – but as far as I can tell, that’s all based on text and code, not the diffs of binary files.
-
@levifig @danielmall Interesting. I’ve heard the exact opposite.
-
@levifig @danielmall And we need the server component – multiple people contributing at once.
-
@levifig Also, can it’s all or nothing with git – the entire repo every time.
-
@levifig With lots of changes to binary files, the repo is growing out of control in size very quickly.
-
@ubiquitic We’re already using Confluence as a wiki internally, and don’t really like it. Plus, not really version control for binaries?
-
Also, for anyone recommending VersionCue, Adobe discontinued it after the release of CS4.
-
@TheRyanFord @abduzeedo Yeah, have heard lots of bad about VersionCue. I don’t even think @Trenti stands behind that one.
-
We also need something that we can install and use on our own server(s) (not a 3rd party hosted dealybob)
-
@flukesh No problem – thanks for the input.
-
@flukesh I think this tweet from @KeriHenare might be the crux of our issue, not matter git or svn: twitter.com/#!/kerihenare/…
-
@GrahamJenkin Thanks Graham. But it’s gotta be something we can install on our own server. Not a 3rd party cloud solution.
-
@flukesh Not yet – haven’t even played with subversion yet. But have been told that it might work better for our needs.
-
For the record, we’re already using git, but have found that it’s starting to drag with large amounts of binary files.
-
@danielmall I assume you were using a pixelnovel account then, rather than using your own SVN repo?
-
Starting to read about Subversion for first time. Anyone have better alternate recs for version control of binary files (psd, ai, pdf, etc)?
-
@courtneybolton What do you mean by “yr 2000max”? No idea what this means.

@noradio “A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.”
-
Not a coincidence that #dreamforce happens at the same time as #burningman. I’d love to see the results of combining the two.
-
Perfectionists rarely achieve perfection. But they also understand “good enough” is not enough.
-
@ashsmash I’d also cry if they took my temperature like that.

Good to be back with the team today after a few days away from the office. Smart folks. We’re still hiring more. twitter.com/jobs/design_ux

@ev They’ve been using more and more animation effects to grab attention. Like the sparkly hover for some +1 buttons. Changing of the guard?
-
@movito Definitely agreed on both fronts.
-
@stefsull @StuRobson Ah, and that’s another issue with newtwitter that I thought was getting fixed. I’ll check into it for you.
-
@mikeindustries @khoi Agreed. I’m surprised Apple hasn’t either acquired 1P, or developed their own solution with an even better experience.
-
@mikeindustries @khoi What I don’t get is that they replicated Chrome’s bad extension design to Safari, crippling both now.
-
@StuRobson @stefsull They’re treated exactly like tweets. Delete a DM, & it’s gone from the system. No copy is created for the other person.
-
@StuRobson @stefsull Yep – that ‘s been a broken “feature” of DMs since the beginning.
-
@mikeindustries @khoi The Chrome extension is the piece of crap that started all the trouble. Safari’s extension was far superior & simpler.
-
@khoi It’s a big shame that what was once a great, simple utility is being slowly ruined in the name of platform consistency. cc @1Password

Google begins updating Blogger’s dated, 7yr old design. mashable.com/2011/08/31/goo…
-
@dbedingfield Developing?
-
@dbedingfield Not only that – but I’ve done more designing and directing from here this week than I normally do in the office.
-
@joshelman When I heard the announcement, I didn’t quite get it either.
-
@mikeindustries @elizabeth @Trenti mention mention mention mention mention mention mention mention. Oops, that might have been one too many.
