Sorry, Dodgers. But y’all look pretty goofy in these Blueberry Bright pajamas. #BeatLA

@plasticmind I get called almost yearly. I feel like the court prioritizes calling folks who have shown up for past calls. Served on 3 trials so far. Always an inconvenient interruption to normal life, but also a very interesting process.
-
@drwave What I learned doing the stairs for our deck is that you can get away with lights on every other step. The alternating light/dark is enough to make out every step.
-
@ChappellTracker @kvox Also grew up in the evangelical church. I remember so many dire church and family conversations about Revelations, and the different elements which were supposed to be the mark. And multiple viewings of Left Behind. It was scary as a youngster.
-
@sippey Thought it was on by default. But if not, Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Reachability.
Kind of a strange interaction at first. And takes a bit of practice to invoke it every time. But very useful.
-
@menabus Thank you for sharing. Fwiw, I remember going thru waves of this earlier in Twitter’s history too. Back then, we attributed a lot of it to growing pains. But that just glazed over the real issues.

I’ll take “Obvious Choice” for $1000 twitter.com/VancityReynold…

@bijan I get that lots of people photoshop their skies all the time (add clouds, remove them, alter/saturate colors) but this just feels strange. Maybe it’s this specific example, which is definitely not improving anything.
-
@typographica As futile as this might seem, it’s so appreciated. Even if you turn just a few young designers toward the originals, or even help them understand that there are originals, your notes are well worth the time they took to compose.
-
@halvorson Have you ever briefly visited or driven through a sliver of a state solely for the purpose of checking it off your list?
-
@isaach Congrats, Isaac! What a process.
-
@stop What a game.

Heaven? No, it’s Iowa. And I sure do wish I could be there to see this. Please tell me James Earl Jones will be there to do the intros. #FieldOfDreamsGame twitter.com/Sportsnet/stat…

And suddenly, we have a teenager in our house. How did this happen? Happy birthday, @emma! So so grateful for every day with you.
-
Random fave memory we just discussed… at a @SFGiants game, down in late innings, and they’d start playing “Don’t Stop Believin’”. Then Steve Perry would run down to the first row of club level on 1st base side, and direct the entire stadium in singing it as loud as we all could.
-
We know a family who just lost their entire house, and about everything else in the #RiverFire. They’re safe, animals are safe. But they’ll need help starting over. And @LEGO_Group, if you’re listening, their 13-year old son just lost his entire life-long collection of LEGO. twitter.com/Lizz_Porter/st…

@jmwhittaker Not so much. Texture was straight muffin, or at least what muffins are like in the states. Bready, not flaky like a croissant.
-
@mfg Following up, and thanking you for this rec. We wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. Worked out perfectly.
-
@cyanhex You were (and have been) a great addition to the team Sean. We were lucky you chose Twitter. Bummed we didn’t overlap more. Looking forward to what you do from here.
-
@daringfireball @gruber Not exactly the same thing, but @davepell’s @nextdraft has nicely filled a very similar niche for me for years. A good summary of the day’s news with puns and opinion thrown in for good measure.
-
@halvorson Happy birthday, Kristina! I keep flipping over to your profile just to see the fun balloons. Cheers to you!

Any New Yorkers have a recommendation for Covid testing locations somewhere near Midtown/Flatiron open on a Saturday (next week)? Results within 24 hrs.
-
@jw I just said the same thing out loud. They look like practice sessions.
-
This centi-thread is like a set of cliff notes (+) for an entire Med school class on immunology and epidemiology related to Covid. Gets pretty technical about 40 tweets in, but still very useful to scan for us commoners. In Arnold’s voice: “It’s not a booster…” twitter.com/celinegounder/…

@Hicksdesign @brad_frost A flood of memories from the roller rink whenever I hear Come on Eileen, so I can’t hate on it. Grouped with Centerfold, Safety Dance, and almost everything from Duran Duran.

Same music, but now give them all guns and let Tarantino direct a cut. twitter.com/ValaAfshar/sta…

@danrubin @lomography @lomographynyc @Hasselblad Nice Dan. The depth of field in that first mirror shot is seriously messing with my mind. I can’t stop looking.

He was the calm in our storm. The comfort in our uncertainty. Reason that could disarm tension. Smiles that lit the room. His encouragement lifted us all and made us better humans. For he was one of the best humans, and we all wanted to be more like Mike. Rest peacefully, @mkruz.
-
@mgsiegler Sadly, I’m betting the ratio of new advertisers Twitter gains per day to the volume you see in your timeline would make this a losing goal.
-
@mgsiegler Someone I follow did this a while back as an experiment, and they ended up getting some really strange ads, but no reduction in ad volume. Apparently once you block out the higher level auction winners (1000s), you still get the lower remainder of a bottomless barrel.
-
@finkel Even with the early catch and good prognosis along the way, I can still imagine a lot of stress over the past year. Glad you’re feeling good, Ben. Thanks for sharing.
-
@bhaggs @Stammy @biz As Twitter grew up, Comms (and maybe even Biz himself) may have wanted to stop using fun/goofy names for company branding & assets, even though they were almost always internal references. Until the logo moves away from a cute blue bird, many tweeps will always know him as Larry.
-
@simplebits @dribbble I could envision your grin as I tweeted it.

“@simplebits existed long before @dribbble” — me dansplaining twitter.com/jw/status/1408…

@rklau Yay – confirmed, it works for us now. My wife and I couldn’t find records when this launched. Thanks, Rick!
-
@stop @rogie @motherfuton @whale @getstarkco Not that this is a good thing. At all. I know because a friend of mine works (or worked) for a company that enabled this exact thing. Key any image name with the campaign and position in email, then swap the image dynamically on the server with thousands of variants. Yuck.
-
@rogie @motherfuton @whale @getstarkco All of the above. Also… dynamic email is a thing now. (As in images that swap out with other images depending on when you open + other metrics.) But the companies that enable these have only figured out how to swap images. Thus only content-locked-in-images can be dynamic. ☹️

Yes, this. All of this. I’ve been wanting this for 10+ years now. twitter.com/_dcrc_/status/…

@hisham_hm @grimmelm @mindspillage Similar reaction here. I got the first image. But the second I read as 73.4000000, which seems superfluous with the extra 0s, and obviously far off from the intent.
