@pandemona The flipped question is, how would a human answer when asked, “Are you human?” (defensive? frustrated? sarcastic?) And thus, more meta, how would AI predict a human would answer?
-
@ericharr @pandemona Yep. Still mad about that. 🔫

I just used “progressively enhance” in a conversation with my wife about a site design, and it made complete sense to her.
-
Skip the H and just use IMO. Opinions have nothing to do with being honest, and they are rarely humble, especially when expressed.
-
@Stammy I spy an opportunity to rent one for the afternoon just for the purpose of creating a photo essay of unlikely / inconvenient abandonment scenarios.
-
@mikeindustries @mkruz @bhaggs @dburka @mulligan S1E1 weeds out a lot of viewers immediately (including my wife). Either very intentional or not thought through at all. I tell everyone to skip it, at least until later.

@stop I don’t often open App Store anymore (relying on automatic updates). But when I do, and read about the effort that goes into each update, that knowledge inspires more loyalty and affinity and usage.
-
Thank you to app developers, like @Dropbox and @culturedcode and more, who continue to write useful App Store descriptions for each update.

@jlax Could be Tycho’s next album cover.
-
@tdominey I recently discovered the power of its x-ray feature while reading a spy novel. It allowed me to go back and find/reread earlier mentions of code words or names.
-
@bhaggs I have app installation turned off for now on our kids’ iPods, so there’s not even a visible App Store icon. No one would ever know there are updates available in that case.
-
@rogie I would work (design) in the park every week if I could.
-
Real baseball is finally back. I really enjoy working with the audio stream of a game playing in the background.

@nathanperetic Yes, please. With the X cameras too.

If you lived in or near SF in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, this thread about the Metreon delivers the nostalgia (and will make you sad about what it’s become). twitter.com/maxkriegervg/s…

@AndrewCrow Did not see the band name at first, and thought this might be a mashup of Rage Against the Machine and New Order.
-
@jw My trick: there’s a rat in separate. Makes no sense, but it helps me every time.
-
@mkruz @messl @twitter @SnoopDogg @bhaggs 2009’s bird was drawn by Biz’s friend Phil under Biz’s direction before I arrived. 2010 was mine that launched with Phoenix (#newtwitter), and was the first time we used it as part of the logo. 2012 bird was created by West, & when we dropped the type – the bird became the word.

@brad_frost Yes! I’m stuck working in a tool where I can only use inline styles (<style> elements are stripped) so no media queries. vh and calc are saving my butt right now for responsive font sizing.
-
I can’t believe I never knew about vw, vh, rem, and calc() in CSS before today. So simple. Mind blown. Kids these days have it so easy.
-
@ericharr Honestly, it took me about a third of the way through to get into it. But once there, the story and format grew on me. By the end, opinion: outstanding. Some language, so be aware if you take the kids. But I bet you’d all really enjoy it.

Remember when Netflix meant building up a queue, waiting for discs to arrive in red paper envelopes, and paying by how many dvds you had out at one time, and then they announced they were changing their model and raising prices and everyone said Netflix was doomed?
-
@beep @textism @Brilliantcrank Yep – Greg’s thoughts and descriptions of Dean’s influence from afar ring so true and mirror my own. Will always remember the wit and character that emanated through his writing.

@jasonsantamaria @Slate As much as you say you like Retina, I also really like Register in this context. Looks great all around, and already feels at home for Slate.

@wiseacre I cringe in anticipation every time I see the driver look away from the road, especially for prolonged look-aways.

@bhaggs Smashing Pumpkins always sounded like that.

@corychainsman I’m sure the book is good. But believe it or not, it’s actually by a different Doug Bowman (also a designer) who specializes in VR and 3D design.
-
@owenbrainard Well done. Noticing the very definitive and intentional “I” in this tweet.
-
@AdamS @isaach @InstantPot I think she used to boil them in a large pot on the stove for an hour. Instant Pot has them down to something crazy, like 10 minutes?
-
@AdamS @isaach @InstantPot I’m not the chef in the house. But my wife says artichokes are the most time-saving. She also likes hard boiling eggs, beef stroganoff, and a few chicken dishes.
-
@AdamS @InstantPot Took us a while to learn how to use it (well). But once we did, man, it now gets used all. the. time.

I had very similar thoughts as I held our first daughter in the hospital just hours after she was born. Time and parenting have a very conflicted relationship. daringfireball.net/2011/12/merry

@soleio @bhaggs @giron @TweetDeck Agreed, I think we gave up too easily on it. FYI – I briefly checked this tool out that Sean mentioned. Looks like it will create lists based on any account’s follows. twitter.com/sperte/status/…

@kfury You’re right – that keel appeared out of nowhere, and violated the physics of waterfalls (at least those that fall as gently as that one did).
-
@kfury The seaplane-like ship, that looked like a boat, but then flew over the edge of the waterfall? Nothing odd about it, and not much significance either, other than to establish opulence?
-
@jimkenny62 Exactly. There’s nothing out there yet. I worry my tweet will eventually become the top result, yet with no answer.
-
@whyisjake @starwars I wanted to believe that. But according to this page about BB-8, not so: “A drunken gambler, played by Warwick Davis, repeatedly inserts coins into a slot in him thinking he is a slot machine.” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BB-8
