@Trenti It may be how *you* use Twitter, but it’s not how a growing majority or our users use it. ;-)
-
@davidcorrell drag and drop it onto the new tweet box.
-
@ralphsaunders Not always. Signup can happen over SMS, mobile, or via an app.
-
@notasausage It’s the roadblock for folks who don’t understand Twitter. They think they have to tweet, but they don’t have anything to say.
-
@notasausage @mikeindustries Long-term, yes. But again, active doesn’t necessarily mean tweeting. Also, faving, RTing, etc.
-
@ralphsaunders Not everyone will take that view. But it’s definitely ok if you start with it.
-
@notasausage It’s a misperception we’re trying to break. In the early days, sure, it was all about tweets. But users now? Find interests.
-
@notasausage @mikeindustries Nope. Again, there’s tons of value to be had, even if you never ever tweet.
-
@joeypfeifer @mdo The barrier to Twitter for a lot of new folks is that they think they need to tweet to be on Twitter. Not true at all.
-
@parislemon @trammell @rsarver That seems like a bug to me. Should users really be seeing every instance of an RT?
-
@mikeindustries And of all people, I’m surprised you don’t see the value in simplifying the UI by hiding an element not constantly used.
-
@mikeindustries That feature is still in test mode with selective clients. It may or may not appear more broadly.
-
@dburka @mikeindustries But long term, that might not necessarily be a bad thing.
-
@dburka @mikeindustries Except that we can all accurately predict what will happen when the box is removed: # tweets will drop.
-
@mikeindustries Disagree. It’s like a constant prompt that you need to fill in. You don’t need to tweet to get tons of value.
-
@deadgraviti @joeypfeifer @mikeindustries And that’s quickly becoming more the norm.
-
@cap We’ve started debating that.
-
@mikeindustries Tweetie never had a visible tweet box – it’s only a shortcut away. Plus, consumption over production.
-
@georgemoore Link shortening is now automatic. Paste in a long URL and note the char count.
-
@gibsonsgolfer Lists are in the left nav. New tweet is either available from the bottom left menu, or the File menu, or the kbd shortcut.
-
@dtrasbo Zoom out from all Spaces, and you can then.
-
@leland Strange, I’ve never thought about which side I need to swipe for Muni/Bart gates. But I also don’t remember why that is.
-
@pvanb You’ll need to take that up with Loren then. Something about the app prevents it from being dragged off-screen, even sans Spaces.
-
@pvanb Really? Even when you activate Spaces? I can go clear outside the bounds of each screen: cl.ly/3t042d3w202f0A…
-
@angusnb No, because we wanted it to be as light weight as possible. Any view (tweet, profile) can easily be opened on twitter.com though.
-
@angusnb Ah, Tweetie (for Mac) has never had a right hand pane. It’s always been a single-column app.
-
@angusnb What right hand pane? Tweetie never had one to my knowledge.
-
@drewm Those are the same (prolly just anti-aliased differently). This was our previous bird: alloveralbany.com/images/twitter…
-
@drewm images.google.com/images?q=twitt… will give you a quick, comprehensive overview, mostly of those NOT created by Twitter.
-
@scottboms Can’t say that I’ve EVER used that form of auto-complete in ANY Mac app. I didn’t even know about it.
-
@scottboms Still, I thought Esc was the natural way to escape out of the new tweet window.
-
@scottboms I learned through this that Esc is Mac’s universal auto-complete key, which is why Loren didn’t want to override that.
-
@jasonsantamaria @drewm Interesting to note: We updated Twitter’s logo with the launch of #newtwitter, but hardly anyone noticed.
-
@smileyj68 The lack of the RT dogear as confirmation is a bug, and should be fixed soon.
-
@ozlubling Cool Font size option should be coming soon. Hang in there.
-
@kyle Not sure about that one. Maybe ability to double-click for copy/paste? Except that doesn’t work with replies.
-
@joshuarudd User streams makes it crazy how quickly you see replies now, huh?
-
@joshuarudd Same here. “sent in error”
-
@pastortroy Not yet, though it’s something many people have requested, and has been kicked around as an idea a few times.
-
@bencallahan You don’t have a choice, unless you omit the http. It’s for user protection from phishing, etc.
-
@jimramsey If so, it would likely need to be written by @lorenb. I just provided slight input along the way.
-
@RHurv Hmm – doesn’t quite look like this one worked correctly…
-
@pl Think of the left (black) column as the title bar – you can click anywhere in that to drag the app.
-
@BoltClock You can still use other shorteners outside the app (for stats etc), but everything will still go through Twitter’s shortener.
-
@patdryburgh Right, but with the menu item gone, people are wondering how you do it now.
-
@pvanb You can still use your own shortener outside the app. Otherwise, it uses Twitter’s.
-
@nicolaspy Not sure when. We’re working on it.
