@iA When I remember to switch to it, I frequently find good stuff there I would have missed otherwise. Issue is remembering to switch.
-
@stop @deamplified @iA Sure, I can see tweets that my follows fave in Activity. But I switch to that view infrequently.
-
@stop @deamplified @iA I shouldn’t need to follow everyone just for the chance that they tweet something really good.
-
@deamplified @iA I don’t see this as so black and white. Every day, I miss really good tweets from people whom I don’t follow.
-
@iA I’m thinking the opposite of dilution. Instead, it attempts to concentrate the tweets you may want to see in a short attention window.
-
@iA Understood. I think something more like “8 people you follow favorited…” would work better, and help you understand why it’s there.
-
@iA As I understand it, no, not everything. Only a tiny fraction of the tweets that your network favorites get injected into your stream.
-
@KuraFire I thought they were officially supposed to be relieved of duty a few days ago.
-
@marcoarment Speaking of, Overcast is really good. Simple. Useful. Love the notifications of new episodes too. Thanks for making it.
-
@shinypb This is why we never should have allowed CRs in tweets. cc @mikeindustries
-
@yarcom I believe ”It’s a feature, not a bug.” is the appropriate response here.
-
@stop @yarcom Also, I’m semi-accustomed to this already, because I follow @mike_stellar, and get all those tweets “injected” into my feed.
-
@yarcom Now *that* is something that feels very different. Injection without social context… it better be a PFG tweet.
-
@yarcom I think it could help with the anxiety that some people feel to follow everyone, lest they miss something good.
-
@krystynheide @yarcom Just favorited this tweet. Did I ruin everything? ;-)
-
@yarcom FWIW, with heavy viewing activity today, I’ve only seen two follow-favorited tweets, and both were very interesting to me.
-
@yarcom As has always been the case, you have to assume that all activity on Twitter (outside of DMs) is public, and fair game.
-
@yarcom @krystynheide It shouldn’t affect that. I don’t see them broadcasting every one of your faves. Wouldn’t make sense to do that.
-
RT @shebnightscan: Arthur Ross, 10, St. Louis distributing roses to peaceful #Ferguson demonstrators. #MichaelBrown @stltoday http://t.co/O…
-
@krystynheide Also, you can pretty much be sure of more experimentation with the main feed. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
-
@krystynheide Agreed. But this is just an experiment now. That could be added in later. Or not. I don’t know anymore. ;-)
-
@krystynheide Favorites have always been public though. All activity on Twitter is, other than DMs.
-
@stop @shellen @stefanudziela @mathowie Also, how frequently you see them. For a live event or even something like #Ferguson, it may work well.
-
@shellen @stefanudziela @mathowie Perhaps. I think its success or failure is will be based on how valuable the extra tweets you see are.
-
@stefanudziela @mathowie @shellen I can already see network favoriting if I flip over to Activity. I struggle to see how this is bad.
-
@mathowie I know I’m closer to the intent of this, thus might be biased. But it seems pretty smart to me. ’Slong as it’s not every favorite.
-
@mathowie @shellen This doesn’t seem that different from the @MagicRecs notifications stuff from last year.
-
@stop @shellen Not sure about my theory though, as I just got this injected tweet that was faved by @mathowie: twitter.com/kittyfitz50/st…
-
@shellen Could be. This might even be what Twitter is doing, even though the label only attributes it to one follow.
-
@shellen I agree. Tho I think there’s value in occasionally showing me tweets in my timeline that a significant % of my network favorited.
-
@Hedonia @NoeValleySF No power up at Philz on 24th either.
-
@PGE4Me How wide-spread is this current power outage in SF? At minimum, Noe Valley, Diamond Heights, and surrounding areas seem affected.

-
@flyosity Awkward. Also, I wish Twitter would wipe out the need for .@ replies.
-
@teddy Another example of those. Here’s one I created back in March: twitter.com/stop/status/44…
-
@teddy It’s still somewhat tedious to create one. Tweetdeck provides the easiest means, AFAIK. Create a new Collection column, drag-n-drop.
-
@teddy Yes, available to anyone, as of last Nov. They were called “custom timelines” when they launched. blog.twitter.com/2013/introduci…

One of the most powerful tributes to Robin Williams I’ve seen is this personal story shared by @normmacdonald: twitter.com/stop/timelines…
-
@craigmod For now, at least one can link tweets together by replying to each successive tweet, and stripping the username. Thread in tact.
-
.@antderosa has a pretty good Twitter list of reporters and others on the ground in #Ferguson twitter.com/Circa/lists/fe…
-
@jw Yeah, interesting huh? Also kind of explains the flag a little, even though it looks cheesy without the backstory.
-
@jw Speaking of, did you see this behind the scenes account of that photoshoot? wired.com/2014/08/scott-…
-
@gooderdle It’s always forward-facing, from an admittedly biased LTR-language perspective.
-
@emoore I keep thinking today is Monday. So I’m in favor of this being Tuesday.

Received spam email this morning that started with “We follow each other on Twitter so I thought I would show you…”. Um. No. No, we do not.
