@mgsiegler Sadly, I’m betting the ratio of new advertisers Twitter gains per day to the volume you see in your timeline would make this a losing goal.
-
@mgsiegler Someone I follow did this a while back as an experiment, and they ended up getting some really strange ads, but no reduction in ad volume. Apparently once you block out the higher level auction winners (1000s), you still get the lower remainder of a bottomless barrel.

@finkel Even with the early catch and good prognosis along the way, I can still imagine a lot of stress over the past year. Glad you’re feeling good, Ben. Thanks for sharing.

@bhaggs @Stammy @biz As Twitter grew up, Comms (and maybe even Biz himself) may have wanted to stop using fun/goofy names for company branding & assets, even though they were almost always internal references. Until the logo moves away from a cute blue bird, many tweeps will always know him as Larry.
-
@simplebits @dribbble I could envision your grin as I tweeted it.

“@simplebits existed long before @dribbble” — me dansplaining twitter.com/jw/status/1408…

@rklau Yay – confirmed, it works for us now. My wife and I couldn’t find records when this launched. Thanks, Rick!

@stop @rogie @motherfuton @whale @getstarkco Not that this is a good thing. At all. I know because a friend of mine works (or worked) for a company that enabled this exact thing. Key any image name with the campaign and position in email, then swap the image dynamically on the server with thousands of variants. Yuck.
-
@rogie @motherfuton @whale @getstarkco All of the above. Also… dynamic email is a thing now. (As in images that swap out with other images depending on when you open + other metrics.) But the companies that enable these have only figured out how to swap images. Thus only content-locked-in-images can be dynamic. ☹️

Yes, this. All of this. I’ve been wanting this for 10+ years now. twitter.com/_dcrc_/status/…

Mosaic and Gopher on a SupraFax 14,400, and soon after, designing and building my first site for First Virtual Holdings. twitter.com/azeem/status/1…

@hisham_hm @grimmelm @mindspillage Similar reaction here. I got the first image. But the second I read as 73.4000000, which seems superfluous with the extra 0s, and obviously far off from the intent.
-
@mikeindustries @kevinweil This is mostly what I remember you looking like when you picked me up from the airport in the late 90s in your convertible Saab.
-
@aggiebradley @gruber Covid/masks definitely made me appreciate the days of TouchID.
-
@1Password No crashes here. Though numerous instances for me (Mac) where clicking the 1p icon in the menu bar or on the browser does nothing. Quitting/relaunching often fixes. But these are just some of issues @mikeindustries was noting that our parents have trouble understanding.
-
@gruber Ability to pull out your phone while shopping and check something quickly without tapping in your passcode or pulling down your mask… priceless.
-
@chrisjdavis Word. Though being from the mid-west, I remembered it as “Western Sizzler”, and had constant debates with my wife of its original name. Turns out, it’s two separate budget steakhouse chains (one named Western Sizzlin), who often battled in court over their names.
-
@mikeindustries @1Password I wish 1p was as stable as (I remember) it used to be. Not only do I help my mom with issues, but I manage access for our entire family. No idea how we’d do shared passwords/vaults without 1p tho. Especially among a household of computers and devices.

Observation: Apple has a transparency fetish that keeps getting in the way of legibility.

@DarkainMX @craigmod @neilbruder One of the options when creating/editing filters I think is “never send to spam”. I would think that would do what it says, but maybe not? Also, theoretically, you could use one filter (instead of many) to catch all of these by using OR between each search condition.
-
Sigh. I wish Twitter was smart enough in cases like this to auto-link (or suggest) the intended account, which was likely @StopAAPIHate. twitter.com/humble/status/…
-
@Josh4City9320 @BernardoTouch Clearly, you need a better source. 😉
-
@cameronmoll Apparently I wasn’t that smart (or advanced). I used my pinky finger.
-
@simplebits I wore that shirt until it wore out. ♥️
-
@tomcoates Is it ever possible in these scenarios that a market buyer got matched with a seller’s astronomically high limit order? Seems more possible in the crypto space, but I’ve always wondered.
-
Instagram is better without comments.
-
Never thought you’d become an expert at identifying blurry squares of stop lights, motorcycles, crosswalks, and busses, right?
-
@miradu Don’t know about the other models, but we have the Burley Piccolo trailercycle. High quality. Our daughter loves riding with me.
-
@roddio1 @tomtomorrow Basie, Ellington, Hampton, and Disneyland?!? What I wouldn’t give to experience even 5 brief minutes of that.
-
@ugmonk I remember RACK-O. Also games like Taboo, Scattergories… any game that requires looking at a card and thinking/acting on it for a bit, esp in a pair or team setting.
-
@ugmonk Anyone ever suggested (or have you already thought of) taking your Analog base and designing some kind of game with cards to use in it? May sound like blasphemy to purists. But it’s such a beautiful setup, possibly for other uses too.
-
@chrisjdavis @Brilliantcrank Congrats on that. It’s a nice relief once you’re all vaxed.
-
@dbedingfield Absolutely beautiful, Dave and Karina. Well done. Killer porch. Can we sip drinks on it together some day?
-
@DSGNRSteve @twitter Whoah – it’s like you grew up there. Nice long run. Thanks for everything you contributed. Glad we got to work together for a bit! Best wishes on the next phase.
-
@jencotton All wonderful, Jen. Thanks for sharing.

@stop @everydaydude And then tonight, while playing same song for our younger daughter (9)… Her: ”Was this from the 80s?” Me: “Yes! I think it’s like 1985.” Her: “Was this when TV was black and white?” 🤦🏻♂️
-
@everydaydude My daughter somehow queued up a video for Dancing with Myself the other day. Me: “Hey, that’s a good one.” Her: “Maybe, but it’s so old! And why is his hair so weird?”
-
@weightshift Yep, we were registered too (as patients in a hospital we’ve never been to). I’m also assuming our data was somehow cross-posted to the CDC. I’m betting they’re collecting more than just anonymous stats each day?
-
@kfury Apple obvi has access to the content. I’m sure they could figure out how to scale imagery and deliver it as a service to iPhones over wifi. Think of the choices users could have. Even if they couldn’t do video. A few static images to fake the dynamic feel.
-
@kfury How about they consult with the AppleTV screensaver team?
-
@cdharrison @Wienermobile This one looks like pristine condition too!
-
@everydaydude @jeffrey @flyosity No way these cheap hand-written cards can be used for anything official or serious much longer. Question is, what’s the solution, and how to roll it out quickly to several hundred million peeps? And what about folks who legit can’t take the vax?
