@kpk You still use that stuff? 😉

@AndrewCrow @Garmin I’m not even sure what the diffs are. But I know I discovered heart rate broadcasting recently, by accident. My wife’s Apple Watch can’t even do this yet. soyacincau.com/2020/06/25/gar…

@AndrewCrow @Garmin Sorry, didn’t see the *and* part. No inreach here.
-
@AndrewCrow @Garmin I have a fenix 6X, but not sure if that helps.
-
@jonmagliola Same. Started my push in April last year.
-
@eddie Hah! If only we had time to that weekend – it was the last weekend of Girl Scout cookies.
-
@jonmagliola Whoah, that’s a high average per day. I do a few short (5-10) mile rides with my girls now and then. But nothing like yours! Onward indeed.

Sigh. Hopefully this is just a temporary bug that Apple needs to fix in 11.3.1 (Safari and Mail not respecting the AppleFontSmoothing setting). twitter.com/_djch/status/1…

Dismissing alert notifications in Big Sur is one of the most repetitively frustrating and poorly designed experiences in macOS. @tylerhall documents why, and offers one solution to make it easier. (Friends at Apple, please take note and fix.) tyler.io/240-invisible-… https://t.co/OnAt5UsMz2

@tomcoates @mikeindustries silly humans and their unencrypted “tweets”

@RypeArts Similar experience at our SF co-op preschool at an info meeting where a parent asked if the staff used OKRs.

@luxuryluke @freckles Cam just asked me earlier tonight at dinner if I could open any kind of retail establishment, what would it be? My answer was some kind of creamery/cafe hybrid. She said she’d add a small bookstore component too.
-
@luxuryluke Apparently some stores did several years ago. And there was also the packaged stuff you could buy in grocery stores a while back. But I haven’t seen it for a while.

@weightshift Lovely. Happy belated, Naz. Miss bumping into you.

@chrisjdavis Don’t you dare get that theme song stuck in my head again. I’ve been free of it now for a couple years.

One of my pet peeves… old style (text) figures used in a table. Amateur mistake. And admittedly, one that I made a few times early in my career, until I got scolded by my CD. twitter.com/Robillard/stat…

I remember @veen advocating for a system like this while we were at Wired over 20 years ago. Not just to curb spam, but all email from anyone outside your own contact(ed) list. twitter.com/imbeccable/sta…

@dbedingfield @emma Big big thanks from all of us, Dave!
-
Last call for #GirlScoutCookies! Final week of sales, then we’re all done for a year. @emma is closing in on a 4,000 box goal! GetCookies.org
-
@jlax Sure… GetCookies.org – would you expect anything less from our family than finding and capitalizing on a good domain?

Setting: my daughter selling cookies at a booth.
Daughter: “Hi there! Would you like to buy some Girl Scout Cookies?”
Man walking out of store: “No, my wife would kill me!”
Daughter, audibly, so he could hear: “That sounds like a bad marriage.”
Me: 😳 but also, proud.

@andrewbg Y’all at 12s are so smart to bridge the gaps like this. (See what I did there?) Thinking of finally getting a trackpad now. Next up is MagicBridge HyperExtended with support for a mousepad on the opposite side, right? 😉

@smarty Nah, bolt move.

@stop @JustinMezzell @trammell And that was back when engagement numbers were only visible by tapping though to the tweet. Nothing was visible on the timeline back then.
-
@JustinMezzell We were pushing this idea 10 years ago. I believe @trammell initiated the idea and led the research on it. If I remember right, the resistance was, even though quality (of tweets & experience) went up, all other business/quantity metrics would go down.
-
@wiseacre I would hope, yes, for safety and security of crew and cargo. A few late additions might sneak on as last to load. But probably rare and statistically insignificant.
-
@stop @wiseacre Pixar had the solution all along. twitter.com/forexflowlive/…
-
@stop @wiseacre They could use a few of these Russian MI-26s, that have a load capacity of 44k pounds. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mil_Mi-26
-
@wiseacre Seems the most logical at this point. I really do wonder how this plays out. Googled typical weight of cargo containers. Depends on size, but between 2-4 metric tonnes. Many utility choppers have a max load of 4k pounds, which is only half the heaviest container weight. 🤔
-
@wiseacre Logistics. 1) How to get the containers off the ship without a 10-story anchored crane, and 2) where to put 20,000 containers (or even half of that: 10k)

@claramhogan @thebolditalic I can’t remember now how long ago I discovered @thebolditalic, but I have appreciated every piece I’ve read since then. It’s been a few years since we left SF, but I still enjoy reading. 💙

@amygmultimedia @SFGiants Thank you, Amy G! We’ve loved having you as part of the game for so many years. And we’re happy you’re now officially with the Giants. Congrats on the new gig!

@rklau @RickSteves Another fun night. I enjoyed his answer tonight for ”Q: Where do you recommend taking kids for a trip to Europe?” … ”A: If they’re between 0-5, to grandma’s house before you leave.”

@charliecapen There’s only one answer to that question…

@photomatt Happy that most phones no longer need flashes. My wife is happy I no longer (regularly) layer my shirts like this.

@beep @mezzoblue @simplebits @teleject Same way I got to see the photo I posted. It’s awesome to see more old friends in your shot.

17 years ago today in Austin with @mezzoblue and @beep, on our way to a talk at SXSW 2004. Not pictured, but most likely walking on the other side of me: @simplebits and @teleject (we all miss you, buddy 😢)

@alexia @blockpartyapp_ @triketora Been my tag line for almost two decades. They can borrow it tho. 😉
-
@beep @blockpartyapp_ @triketora Get that set up yesterday already Ethan! Once you do, I’ll share the filter config I’ve been using that seems to work pretty well.
-
After seeing multiple mentions of @blockpartyapp_ from @triketora, I finally got an account and set it up a couple months ago. I’m not the typical use case for it. However, BP has eliminated almost all the accidental and unintentional mentions I get every single day. 👍
